About Us

The village of Namur is situated in the foothills of the Laurentians in La Petite Nation. The population of approximately 600 is predominantly French -speaking with about 10% claiming English as their mother tongue. Forestry accounts for 85% of employment in this region and tourism is the second sector of the economy. Agriculture accounts for a small part of the primary sector.

On average, one hundred and ten students from eleven different municipalities attend NIS from Pre-kindergarten to Cycle 1 Secondary. Inter-school soccer, basketball and cross-country running are in place for senior elementary and secondary students. Intramural sports are an integral part of lunch hour activities. NIS is fortunate to have access on a weekly basis to the municipal/community library integrated into the school . NIS and the community have a close relationship sharing available resources (soccer  field , baseball field, skating rink, and outdoor volleyball court). Namur’s faculty includes experienced teachers and recent graduates dedicated to their vocation and willing to attend professional development workshops.
