Before you can get a part-time or full-time job you need to have a SIN number. If you do not have a SIN number you will not get paid.

Applying for your Social Insurance Number (S.I.N)

You will need a SIN if you are going on a work placement, applying for a job or a Canada Student Loan. A Social Insurance Number is a file identifier for some federal programs, such as Income Tax and Employment Insurance. To apply for a SIN you must complete an application form and provide the original or a certified copy of a primary document in order to prove your identity and status in Canada. Applications forms are available at your local Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) office or the SIN web site http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/asp/gateway.asp?hr=/en/cs/sin/100.shtml&hs=sxn. To find your nearest Human Resources Development Canada office go to the listed web site. The quickest and easiest way to apply for a SIN is to go to your nearest HRDC office in person.
