CEGEP - General Admission Requirements.

CEGEP is the common term used to refer to the Quebec public college system – it is an acronym that stands for College d’Enseignement General Et Professionnel. The application deadline for all Cegep courses is March 1st. Students applying to a Cegep course must meet the following three requirements:

For General Admission to Cegep:

1. A student will need their Quebec Secondary School Diploma.
2. A student will need to pass Physical Science 416 as a minimum science requirement.
3. A student will need to pass either Math 426, 436 or Math 514 as a minimum math requirement.

Cegep (college in Quebec)

Generally cegep offers academic courses that are of small cost to Quebec residents. Cegep is the equivalent to college and is the next step after High School for students who want to go to University. There are 9 English speaking cegep institutions in Quebec 2 of which are in this area:

These are just two of some 50 different colleges. Every college will offer two year pre university programs where you will gain a Diploma of College Studies (DCS) or a three year technical program, which when completed you will gain an Attestation of College Studies (ACS). Pre University programs will lead directly to university, where as technical programs generally lead to the work force, but can under certain conditions lead to university.
