Priorities:

  • SAFETY - Rules are for everyone’s safety.
  • FITNESS -  Try your best to improve your fitness level.
  • Good sportsmanship is the key to fun!

My Responsibilities:

  • To provide a safe, fun learning environment.
  • To plan lessons that aim to increase fitness, develop skills and increase self-esteem.
  • To encourage students to develop leadership skills.
  • To encourage constructive feedback (positive 2-way communication) between students and myself.

Students’ Responsibilities:

  • To respect the rights of others to have a safe, fun learning environment.
  • To follow rules.
  • To try their best.
  • To communicate with others in a positive manner.

Rules:

  • Follow instructions the first time they are given.
  • Stop, look and listen on the signal (whistle or teacher’s hand up).
  • Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
  • Avoid hostile gestures, fighting and game disruption.

Consequences of Breaking Rules:

  • Sit out along wall (may re-join after a sincere apology).
  • Writing assignment (what they did that was wrong, why it was wrong, what will they try to do in the future).
  • Recess meeting with me if serious problem or repeat offense.
  • Behaviour sheets or phone calls home may be necessary for children who continually break rules.

Dress Code:

Children should come to school dressed in comfortable clothes on gym days.  Proper running shoes are essential for safety.

  • Skill development with bean bags, skipping ropes, hula hoops, and balls of various sizes
  • Inter-scholastic Tournaments:

Cycle 3 students are chosen for inter-scholastic teams on the basis of good skills, knowledge (rules of the game), attitude and behaviour.  Inter-scholastic sports events include touch football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, cross-country running, and track & field.
