Home & School Association

The McDowell Home & School Association would like to welcome all new students and parents. We know that you will find Dr. S. E. McDowell a very warm and friendly place to be!

Our Home & School was founded in 2000 and we are hoping to continue to build a strong and effective Association with as many volunteers as possible. Volunteers have become a vital part of school communities today and together with students and staff we can help improve many elements of the school community – whether it’s raising funds for trips, assisting in the school library or helping out wherever and whenever needed, every little contribution helps!

The HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION is an independent organization of parents who are dedicated to enhancing the education and general well being of our children. It is not connected to any school board. We are here to help our kids. We raise money to buy necessary equipment and resources to help our kids learn and grow. Last year we raised funds to help the Grade 6 finance their Quebec City trip and purchased and installed a swing set for the seniors. Every year we give books to the library through our Book Fairs. Our biggest achievement was the Academic Awards handed out the last day of school. That is a program we would like to see grow to involve more students.

We need the support and input from everyone. So please join today. We are all in this together!

Membership

  If you would like to become a member of the Dr. S. E. McDowell Home & School please join us every 1st. Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Board Room. Membership fees are $16.00, which includes liability insurance and affiliates you with both the Quebec Federation of Home & School Association (QFHSA) and the Canadian Home & School Federation (CHSF). You will receive the QFHSA News delivered to your home four times a year and become a member of the largest independent and voluntary parental organization in Canada!
