I believe that the trip to Harris Lodge was a wonderful and enlightening experience. It was part of the environmental awareness program and I believe that it succeeded in what the program is all about. It raised awareness about the earth around us and how important it is to respect it. In today’s world we are living and dealing with several problems related to the environment and global warming. I think that the trip to Harris Lodge dealt with some of them and definitely made people think about their actions and the consequences. During our trip we participated in many activities that showed us the real beauty and worth of nature. The trip raised awareness about water consumption, trees, and the many other problems affecting our world.
This trip connected with me on several levels. I always knew about how global warming is bad, we shouldn’t harm trees, we need to save water and so on. But after the trip I actually realize what a major importance it is. During the trip we had to save water and try not to harm any other living things, and we succeeded. Not only did this make the class attempt to be more environmentally conscious, but I think it also helped people individually. We went skiing and snowshoeing several times which allowed us to observe nature at its best; quiet, peaceful, and free from the troubles of technology. I think that it was a wonderful experience for everyone and showed how wonderful nature can be. At night some of us played a hockey game on the lake with candle lanterns and even that showed the beauty and potential of nature. We don’t need technology to have fun, just a good attitude and a little bit of work can lead to something extremely amazing.
While on the trip we learned about how important all of these things are in our life and now we must actually see that they are carried through.
The trip to Harris Lodge was not only fun and exciting, but also let us learn about the environment. I believe that the trip or programs that deal with issues that we dealt with on the trip should be provided school-wide, if not world-wide. They are major issues that should be acted upon by everyone. This trip was a great example of it. It opened everyone’s eyes about the environment and made us think about what we can to do solve the problem. A very important tool that we had to use on this trip was cooperation. We were put into teams and had to cooperate to cook supper, clean, build snow quinzees, and generally work together. I think that this is very important because the only way that we are going to be able to prevent and/or stop global warming is to cooperate. We cannot have the world leaders arguing over something for years when it must be dealt with immediately. This trip showed us that. We must work together if we want something to get done.
This trip was a great experience for the sec 4/5 class and all the teachers that came with us. I think that the program is highly successful and that people should continually work towards improving the program, awareness, and generally our whole world.

The trip was a good experience; I really enjoyed it because we had so many different activities and so much fun with Mr. Alan Earwaker.
The trip showed us how much fun we can have without television, internet, and cell phones. The trip taught us to enjoy life and take care of what we have before it’s too late. The trip made me realize that I shouldn’t take advantage of the earth as I do and not to harm trees, and many other living things. All of my class mates went back to their homes with a new perspective of our world.
Mr. Alan Earwaker showed us how to survive in the cold if something went wrong. He really loves teaching new things to others and he also learns from them too. It shows that he loves what he does, and I hope that he continues with these good experiences with other classes.
The global warming is becoming more and more frightening, there is shortage in water, and the pollution is getting worse. Some people don’t realize this because they are not aware and only think of themselves and how they’re going to get somewhere. They don’t think that it’s this bad, and if it continues like this the world become more and more unhealthy for my grand-daughters and grand-sons. People have been taking advantage of what we have.
The trip was a good experience and hopefully there will be many others. Thank-you for everything you have done for everyone.

I think that the main idea of our camping trip at Harris Lodge is that it involved a lot of team work and team effort. And it was a time where we really got to meet and really know each other. It was part of the environmental awareness program, and I find that the program succeeded well. It’s a place where we got to experience how to actually live outdoors, and how to survive without using electronic devices. It made me believe that there is so much more to life than just electronic devices, and that we can still have fun and live well without them. Doing this activity made me know how it felt to have nothing back in the pioneer day and how they had to survive, even when they had no shelter and had to make quinces, I know now that they were able to survive and so can we now.
This made us realize how to save up on things that we tend to take advantage of at our homes. For example we learned how to save up water and not to waste, because in some places around the world, many people don’t have that much water. We learned how to save and share food with each other. Also it taught us how to take care of the nature and environment around us. Global Warming is affecting the nature and water is becoming a big issue. This trip also made me realize that we shouldn’t harm trees or any other living things.
There are some things that I can’t really relate too, because I used to go hunting and fishing with my dad and uncle, and I never really liked it, but I have more confidence now that I can survive and make it through the wilderness. This trip has taught me a lot about the environment and I hope that we can do it again some day. I’m also glad that Mr. Earwaker takes time to spend with us and to teach of these new things.
