Parent Feedback

“After my daughter has been involved with Environmental Awareness and Outdoor Learning activities (Building Bird Houses, Winter Survival), she comes home from school with much enthusiasm and excitement. She wants to share what she learned….plus she talks anxiously about returning back to school for more!

I had the absolute pleasure to take part in a camping trip that Alan organized with Cycle 3 students last week at Taylor Lake in Gatineau Park.  On the surface, it was an extremely well organized and efficient trip: obviously Alan has done this sort of trip on many occasions.  He also added an educational component that motivated and inspired the students, whether it was learning about animals, trees or plants, habitats, paddling techniques in canoes and kayaks, or the environmental awareness of our ecological footprint, every part of the trip was a fun and excellent learning experience for the children.  But lastly, I realized what a great experience this is for our students in that difficult transition period from the safety of elementary school to the unknowns of high school.  Alan challenged them physically and mentally, with activities like caving and night walks, and gave them a lot of time to reflect on their experiences.

I was really impressed with Alan’s level of knowledge, his ability to relate to the students, but overwhelmingly, his love and passion for Teaching and Nature.  He will definitely be an asset to the Board in this capacity. Just spreading the word!
