Chelsea Governing Board Sub-Committee
Entente and Meredith Center - List of Interests
Summary: 4 key items (prioritized)
- Physical link – atrium to facilitate the school and community interests such as public awareness and association activities, community theatre, ecology center, and special presentations.
- Exchange of space: use of gyms and MPR (etc.) in exchange for DC administration and other facilities in Meredith Center
- Day Care facility: ideally built on a bilingual model, featuring K4 programs
- Infrastructure / agreement: allowing for the expansion of the school’s programs (additional homerooms due to population influx, new curriculum initiatives requiring additional office / meeting space)
Commentary (raw information from discussions):
- Exchange of space (ex: specifically, gain access during school hours (A4 included)to the Meredith Centre facilities and equipment in those facitlities, Gain access to additional storage space). Clearly set borders around what is part of the entente @ Chelsea School and what is specifically out (sections of the school and time of day).
- Exchange of operating costs: (caretaker/janitorial services, existing shared main road entrance, parking lot, snow removal services, ntwk/communications cost (phone), leverage electricity feed from hydro feed off main road), paving of the road, admin offices off hours
- Physical link: atrium
- There must be something in the gov programs that allow some sort of monetary incentive to improve/renovate the school.
- Can we add to the wishlist a request to have Chelsea School governing board as a key stakeholder in the Meredith project? I know there was a point on "keeping Chelsea school informed" , but on the wish list.. I would request something more formal.
- Chelsea school, via GB or principal or other should be formally recognized as a key project sponsor by both the project team (building the centre) and the town/ WQSB. As one of the project sponsors, all intiating/planning and executing phases of the project would be put in front of the school, GB or principal for approval.. (project charter, scope, schedule, etc) so that you don't get any surprises,
- cutting the cost significantly and allowing max benefit for the school. The saving in the budget could then be diverted to other project objectives of the Meredith Centre and it's really all win win for everyone... the pavement is same thing.. "oh.. don't build a new road.. just use mine and pave it.."
