Chelsea After 4
Greetings new families! Here are a few facts about the Chelsea After-Four program, which you might find of interest.
A well-supervised, fun-filled program is available to Chelsea students, before school, during lunch, after school hours and on PD Days. Hours: 7:15– 8:15 a.m. and at 2:45- 5:30 p.m. Participants choose from a wide range of activities in a relaxed and safe environment. Students may participate in the program on a regular, part time or occasional basis.
Our mission is to provide high calibre programs that are both fun and educational.
The A-4 Program began in 1980 with 10 children. Today it embraces over 175 children. The introduction of a provincial subsidy in 1998 has enabled us to offer a broader program of activities to accommodate a larger enrolment.
The A-4 community which includes students, staff and parents remains committed to working cooperatively to create an environment that is safe, fun, peaceful and rewarding. A cornerstone of our philosophy is “Respect for All by All.”
We place a great emphasis on sports and physical education. Presently, we have the following sports teams at A-4: Junior and Senior Boys Basketball teams, Junior and Senior Girls Basketball teams, Boys Soccer Team, Girls Soccer Team, Mixed Mini-Volleyball team, Track and Field Team and a Cheerleading Squad. These teams participate in tournaments throughout the Outaouais Region after school and on weekends and also in Regional and Provincial meets.
We retain a membership with the following Association: Association Regionale de Sport Etudiant Outaouais.
In the last 5 years Chelsea After-Four Staff have been introducing sports at an introductory level to kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 children. Students are taught the basics including what the sport involves, basic skills and definitions of some of the terms used.
We offer a Homework Club with highly qualified staff every evening from 3- 3:50 pm.
We offer a downhill skiing and snowboarding Program in conjunction with Camp Fortune for students in grade 5-6 and we offer a Jackrabbit Cross-Country Ski Program for students in Kindergarten-Grade 4.
Due to the success of last year’s leadership program we decided to implement it once again. The leadership program gives students from grade 6 the chance to form clubs that educate younger students on a variety of activities and skills.
On behalf of all the educators, we hope that your child(ren) enjoys the complete enrichment program that we have planned for them. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us anytime.
